Logan New Mexico & Quay County Area History

A Quiet Village In Quay County Along The Beautiful Canadian River
Where Clean Air, Friendly People And Hometown Hospitality Are Found

Logan was established by the railroad workers constructing the new railroad through Quay County.
It was named after an old ex-Texas ranger and
United States Marshal, Captain H. Logan.

The town site of Logan was filed on by Olie E. Smith, a Clayton attorney, by power of attorney from William Kirkpatrick, an old Union soldier, under a law that gave Union soldiers a right to sell their homestead rights by what  they called script.

From Indian cliff dwellers to the Anglo arrival in the mid-1800s, New Mexico has lived through thousands of centuries.

We became a state in 1912 and to this day the Indian, Hispanic, and Anglo cultures mix their cultures, traditions and talents. While New Mexico is filled with famous attractions, you can still find hidden pockets of culture and history.
